2006 Rickenbacker 660/12 - Blueburst (Sold)
Near Mint Condition! This may not be a one-of-a kind Ric but you won't see too many like them. Too bad. They are stunning. You could not order one new if you wanted to and Rickenbacker has firmly insisted that they will not bring back this finish.
The 660/12 has grown iconic in the hands of Tom Petty. Its solid body, neck through design, mono/stereo output and stock Toaster pickups give it a unique, ringing sustain as compared to other Ric 12-Stings (and any other electric 12-string for that matter). Also note the deluxe "checkered" binding. If the 360/12 is the Cadillac of electric 12 strings than this is the Porsche. It is slightly wider at the nut than most Rics, at 44.5 mm (1 3/4"). You can play riffs on this guitar like few 12 strings in the world.
Blueburst was the 2005 version of the Rickinbacker's "Color of the Year." From 2000 through 2006 Rickenbacker accepted orders for special "limited edition" finishes. They were (in order): Sea Green, Desert Gold, Burgundy, Montezuma Brown, Blue Boy, Blueburst and Amber Fireglo. Rickenbacker has not offered a color of the year since 2006, largely because they are so backordered.
